Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort Hosts First Sprint Riviera Maya Triathlon
The sport competition scheduled to begin Sunday, March 13th in Hacienda Tres Ríos includes 750-meter swim, 20 kilometer on bicycle, and a 5K.
About 270 athletes from southern Mexico will participate in the triathlon.
Riviera Maya, Q. Roo, Mexico – With the participation of 270 of the main athletes of southern Mexico, the eco-luxury resort Hacienda Tres Ríos will host the first Sprint Riviera Maya Triathlon on Sunday, March 13th.
The sporting event will bring together the most important runners, cyclists, swimmers and general public to the competition that promises to deliver gifts for up to 30,000 Mexican pesos in merchandise for the first three winners as well as trophies and diplomas for the winners in each category.
The event is being organized by the company Aire Libre and sponsored by Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort, Televisa Deportes, and TVC Deportes as well as other important companies.
There will be 9 categories for female and male, from ages 16 to 50, to cover individual phases or combinations that include: 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bicycling, and a 5K race.
The event’s objective is to promote sports and athletics in the southern part of the country as well as to promote fitness tourism and showcase the region’s natural beauty.
The route will be completed in the Tres Ríos Nature Park which consists of 326-acre pristine jungle, home to hundreds of flora and fauna tropical species, 10 cenotes, and vast coast dune.
The mixed phases will consist of 2 or 3 members with one of the members being one female. The category for the participant will be determined by age as of December 31st, 2011. All the categories will be regulated by the Mexican Triathlon Federation.
